Currencies
Gigas and Coins — where each comes from and what it buys.
Two currencies exist, and they are not interchangeable.
Gigas
Earned by playing. Matches pay Gigas when they end. In Sector you get a share for the monsters killed, which you keep win or lose, and a bigger share for clearing the map. Selling items back to the in-game shop pays Gigas too, and members earn double Gigas at weekends. A Sector room on Hard pays 25% more of the base Gigas, on Easy 25% less (see Game Modes).
The top gear sets sell to the shop on one ladder: a higher set always sells for more than a lower one — see Enhancement. Halloween exchange items sell for nothing.
Gigas are held by your character. Most of the item catalogue is priced in Gigas, and Gigas has its own ranking board.
Coins
Coins are held by your account, so every character on it shares them. You can buy them in packs on the donate page:
| Price | Coins |
|---|---|
| $5 | 9,000 |
| $10 | 19,000 |
| $20 | 40,000 |
| $50 | 105,000 |
| $100 | 225,000 |
You also earn them in the game:
- Membership — 8,000 Coins with every 30 days of membership you buy. See Membership.
- Sector wins — about one Coin for every five levels of the map (a Level 100 map pays 20), and about one win in ten pays five times as much. In a party you need at least one kill of your own to get them. The room's difficulty never changes them.
- Gold bars — they drop in Sector games; sell them to the in-game shop for 100, 300 or 600 Coins.
- Daily quests — 120 to 400 Coins each, by difficulty, plus a 400-Coin bonus for finishing any four of the five. See Daily Quests.
- PvP, Team and BvB wins — 1 Coin, and about one win in ten pays 5.
Coins buy the cash-shop side of the catalogue — including the slots that only take Coin items (see Equipment Slots) — and stash pages 2 to 5 at 7,500 Coins each; page 1 is free (see Bag, Stash & Gift Box).
The one rule that matters
⛔ Coin items cannot be sold on the player market. Every Gigas item in the catalogue is tradable; no Coin item is. That is what keeps the cash shop from becoming a one-way tap into the Gigas economy.
You can still ask to be paid in either currency for something you list. A Coin sale keeps a 10% market fee, and your account must be at least 7 days old to list or buy for Coins — see Market.
The same 7-day rule covers giving Coin items in the game: an account younger than 7 days cannot send a Coin-priced item to another player, as a shop gift or by item post. Gigas gifts are open to every account.
Where your balance shows
When you are signed in, both balances sit in the site header, and in full on your account page.
